Jabal Sayid is 350km north-east of Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. Byrnecut was awarded the development and production contract for Jabal Sayid in September 2010.

We were initially involved in the dewatering and rehabilitation of old abandoned workings prior to the commencement of mining operations.

Byrnecut’s scope of works included decline, vertical and lateral development, rehabilitation, production drilling, blasting, and haulage, plus fleet maintenance management.

Using large-scale longhole open stoping methods with cemented rock fill, the project aimed to extract 2.6 million tonnes of ore per year.

Mining activities were undertaken by a multinational workforce of Saudi, Australian and Indonesian personnel. Byrnecut’s safety and training systems were tailored to meet their varying cultural and employment requirements.
